The Hardest Working Dishwasher In Los Angeles

When I complained about running the dishwasher again, my husband suggested I write an entry about our poor, overworked Kenmore. Seriously, I run it on average every two days. There is no time for food to get stuck. I have to unload it every other day. This isn’t an exaggeration.

This poor machine has been working for over 10 years. During this time, it has only been serviced once (by a surly bully who came hours later than promised) and has gotten progressively noisier.  We don’t clean it as often as we should. Yet it keeps on working and cleaning with only a few spotted glasses.  Okay, it’s probably far from perfect if you compare it to new state-of-the-art, eco-friendly, stainless steel dishwashing machines with 24 rinsing options….but it is really the little dishwasher that could!

If not for this little machine:

1 ) We would cook much less often.

2 ) Our sink would be a cess-pool of dirty utensils and pots.

3 ) Our pots and pans would always have greasy handles. (I am horrible at washing and that’s primarily my chore since my husband is cooking.)

4 ) We would argue over doing dishes.

5 ) We would not enjoy focaccia or any recipe that utilizes large baking pans or several pans.

6 ) We would never invite anyone over.

So thank you, Kenmore dishwasher, for working tirelessly for 10+ years without a complaint…

  1. One of the best things about moving was that we finally got a dishwasher. It definitely helps keep the kitchen clean, now we just need something that will do that for the rest of the apartment!
